My Story
I was making good money. But I could not tell you where it was going.
My income was growing but so were my expenses. Every month I was working harder and still felt like I was just keeping up. When a close friend suggested I cut back my hours to spend more time with my family my immediate reaction was fear. Not because I was not earning enough. Because I did not truly understand my own numbers. And without that understanding stepping back felt impossible.
That moment stopped me.
I realized the problem was not my income. It was my clarity.
So I slowed down and actually looked. At my income. At my debt. At my savings. At my future. For the first time I could see everything clearly and when I could see it clearly I could change it.
I stopped reacting to money and started making intentional decisions. I paid off debt. I built savings. I learned how money actually works. And with every step my confidence grew and the financial stress that had been quietly running my life began to fade.
What I did not expect was what happened at work.
I started sharing pieces of my journey with patients the same calm step by step way I explain oral health. And I kept hearing the same response.
“Why did nobody ever teach us this?”
One patient finally said it directly. “You need to teach this. Other women need access to this kind of clarity.”
I brushed it off at first. But the message kept coming back. So I listened.
Today Financial Foundation by Design exists because of that moment. My work is rooted in helping women especially women in communities of color feel calm capable and confident with their money. Not through shame or pressure. Through education clarity and practical support that actually fits real life.
Because when you understand your numbers you gain options. When you have options you gain peace. And when money no longer feels confusing or intimidating you are free to make choices that support both your family and your future.
That is what I help women build. Financial confidence by design.
